Not long ago he took Julius and Royal to the Atlanta Zoo when they were in town visiting with him.Julius dedicated his life to public service. He joined the US Army in 1983, graduating bootcamp at Fort Dix Army Base, in New Jersey. His favorite spot in the house growing up was lying under the dining room table to watch tv. He loved to perform songs and dance at the family house parties growing up on Chippewa. Julius was an athlete and an avid sports fan. One of his favorite pass times was watching sports and talking about games especially with his nephew Lamar. His favorite NBA team was the Detroit Pistons and his favorite NFL team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He grew up using his brother Perry’s weight equipment in the basement on Chippewa. It was no surprise when he added certified personal trainer to his repertoire. He was sociopolitically astute, appreciated scholarly debate, and board games like Trivia Pursuit. He had a great sense of humor and was quite witty. He loved his mom’s cooking. He enjoyed cooking smoked pulled pork. He loved family gatherings.
