Debbye Tucker June 22, 1949 – March 3, 2025 Debbye Tucker, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, after a recent illness. She was 75 years old.

Born in 1949, Debbye was a woman of boundless love, courage, kindness, generosity, and faith. She had a heart that embraced all who knew her, always giving of herself in ways that most could not fathom. Her kindness knew no limits, and her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life. She was a friend to all, a source of light in dark times, and a constant reminder of God’s love through her selfless actions.

One of the many ways Debbye spread love was through the number three. To her, “3” meant “I love you,” and she used it often—in messages, letters, phone calls, and anywhere she could. It was only fitting that she left this world on 3/3 at around 3 a.m., a final, beautiful reminder of the love she gave so freely to others.

Debbye was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Wilma Gallup, her sister, Michelle Flatt, and her adopted parents, Joe Bob and Naomi Hopper. She is survived by her cherished son, Joe, and daughter-in-law, Wendy; her adored grandchildren, Mark and Emma; and her beloved siblings: Greg (Rachel), Jeff (Juli), Doug (Melissa), Todd, Steve (Gina), and Melissa.

She also leaves behind many nephews and nieces, each of whom she loved dearly: Erik and Aimee Gallup (Kylie, Easton, Jacob), Megan Gallup, Isaac and Brittni Gallup, Zac Gallup, Jordan and Jacqueline Gallup (Kadence, Charlotte, Hazel), Brittany and Jon Kirschner (Owen and Emmie), Kaylee Gallup (JD, Hayden, Kate), Samantha and Clayton Todd (Nora, Liam, Evelyn, Lydia), Taryn Gallup (Kevin, Nia, Charles Arnold), Philip and Danielle Gallup, Sydney Gallup, Hope Green (Harper), Holly and Aaron Hollands (Copper, Lula, River), Stephanie Flatt (Mark, Londyn), Clinton and Amanda Williams (Emerson, Gunner, Layla), Joshua Flatt, Matthew Flatt, and Hannah Flatt (Felicity, Noah, Hudson, Coraline), as well as the Hopper family and dear friends who were like family, Jiten Chhabra, Manisha Malik, and Irena and Elora Chhabra.

Debbye’s legacy is one of love, service, and devotion to her faith. She lived out Proverbs 17:17: "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." She was that friend, that sister, that mother, and that grandmother—always present, always loving, always giving. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with those who have gone before her. While her absence leaves a deep void, her love and example will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service will be held on April 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 435 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Crossroads Community Center. Your generous contributions will honor Debbye’s memory and support a cause that was close to her heart.
