Fonda Elaine Ellerbee Cox of Senoia, Georgia, passed away on May 5, in Fayetteville, Georgia, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. She was 77 years old.
She was born on January 19, 1947, to the late Emmett Lee and Iona Jones Ellerbee in Ashburn, Georgia. She was the youngest of nine children, including an identical twin sister, Freida.
She graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Throughout her long teaching career, she taught English, reading, and Spanish to grades varying from eighth to twelfth in the Georgia towns of Albany, Edison, Statesboro, Pembroke. Tifton, and Fitzgerald.
She is survived by a son, Bruce “Chip”(Kristie) Cox of Canton, Georgia, a daughter, Jenny (Woody) Poston of Tyrone, Georgia, and three grandchildren, Madison (Ryan) Fritts, Sarah Cox, and John Poston.
She cherished her children and grandchildren, and she loved to read and spend time gardening. Other interests included cheering for The Atlanta Braves and watching college football. Her family plans to have a memorial in the future.
