In Loving Memory of Linda Patricia Johns Strawn
July 2, 1970 – September 29,2023
Linda Patricia Johns Strawn, 53 years old, of Fairburn, GA, passed away peacefully on September 29th, 2023, in Atlanta, GA.Linda was born on July 2, 1970, to Paul Adkisson Johns, Jr. and Elizabeth (Betty) McDade Johns in East Point, GA. After Linda graduated from Forest Park High School, she went on to further her studies at Brenau University, graduating with a degree in education.
Linda will be remembered for her love of education and above all, a love of reading. She did her student teaching at Point South Elementary School and spent her entire 27-year teaching career there. Linda felt such a need for the children in that community and a love for those she worked with she never wanted to leave. One of her most memorable quotes was, “If I don’t do anything but teach these children how to read, I consider that a success.”
Her love of reading also carried over into her daily life. Some of Linda’s favorite authors were James Patterson, Steven King, and Jodi Picoult. Her husband, Will, still has a pair of damp shoes from once waiting in the rain to get the latest Jodi Picoult book.
Linda loved watching cooking shows hosted by Ming Tsai, Yen Can Cook, and Brenda Gant. On their last trip to New Orleans, Will and Linda rode all over the town Brenda Gant lived in, looking for her and even going to Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store, because she noted that she had run into so many of her fans there. Linda loved taking trips to New Orleans, visiting Café du Monde, and attending Cajun Cooking School. Linda enjoyed eating at Carrabba’s, Six Feet Under, and The Varsity. Linda also loved it when Will would grill her a steak and even asked for one while she was in the hospital.
Preceding her in death are her father, Paul Adkisson Johns Jr.; her mother, Elizabeth (Betty) McDade Johns; and her rescued fur babies Newman, Abby, Grace, and Sam. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, William Joseph Strawn Jr.; her beloved fur baby, Tripp; aunts Jo and Sara McDade; siblings Debbie (Tony) Storey, Buddy (Maria) Johns, Danny Johns, Billy (Leslie) Johns, Jimmy (BJ) Johns, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
